The town of Clearwater put together a parade all to honor one woman. Hazel Dalbom turned 100 years old on Thursday. Event organizers say Hazel has given back to her community for decades - as a teacher and school board member. Attorneys for the city of Leavenworth have filed a written response to a lawsuit that seeks the release of video of a 2017 officer-involved shooting. The written response argues that the city’s denial of requests for the video remains in good faith and with a reasonable basis in law. The response also argues there is no public interest in the requested materials. Local veterans are hoping to create a veterans memorial in the Hays Veterans Park, 13th and Canterbury. Project Director Vance Chartier of the Veteran Alliance will make a presentation about the project during tonight’s Hays city commission work session. It has taken some time but the upgrades to Eisenhower Park in Dodge City have picked back up again and are set to be completed by the end of the year. The project of renovations started in June 2017 with funding coming from different local grants and organizations.
