A $5,000 grant from the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association may soon assist in displaying news and health tips from the Derby Recreation Commission throughout the city.

In efforts to promote patient health and partner with local healthcare providers, the DRC plans to use the funds to add electronic video communication kiosks. Derby Recreation Commission marketing director Mykalynn Penny said, however, that after evaluating costs, they are now looking at displaying the information on televisions instead.

The plan is to add three to five displays. Each screen would have approximately 10 slides and seven of them would be from the DRC. Penny shared that they’d include information on health and wellness, education information as well as fitness programs available at the Derby Recreation Center.
