A growing regional economy is a benefit to all, including Derby’s residents and business owners.
That was among the many points John Waltner of the Regional Economic Area Partnership, or REAP, made during a recent presentation in Derby before the City Council.
The cliche statement may be that “the rising tide raises all boats,” but it is appropriate, he said. Waltner, who retired as County Administrator of Harvey County in 2017, also served as mayor of Hesston for nearly 25 years. Derby is part of REAP’s board of directors and is represented by council member Tom Keil and
City Manager Kathy Sexton.
As part of his job in dealing with REAP’s member relations, Waltner has a mission to visit the REAP member cities and counties to provide an update and to hear questions or concerns.
