When they met Tuesday, Leavenworth city commissioners discussed proposed changes to the 1969 agreement that established the Leavenworth County Port Authority.
As currently written, the agreement calls for members of the Port Authority’s governing body to jointly be appointed by the Leavenworth City Commission and Leavenworth County Commission.
But the County Commission has proposed changing the appointment process for the economic development organization. Under a proposed amended agreement, the County Commission would be the only entity that approves members of the Port Authority board in the future.
County commissioners approved of the amended agreement in July.
But Leavenworth City Manager Paul Kramer said the agreement needs to be ratified by both the County Commission and City Commission.
