To clear up a little confusion, the candidate for Hiawatha City Commission will not be voted on until the November primary.

Brown County Clerk Melissa Gormley said there has been confusion in this matter due to the city/school elections being combined with other elections for the first time in 2017 – rather than separate in the spring as they had been previously.

She noted that city and school elections are non-partisan and so it would take more than three people running in the same party to require that position to be placed on the ballot for the primary election.
