NICKERSON, Kan. Historic flooding in Nickerson has made getting in and out of the Reno County town difficult.

As of Wednesday a road closure remained for truck traffic from K-14/K-96 and Wilson Road exit to the west end of Nickerson. A Facebook post from Reno County Emergency Management says “Nickerson residents can come to and from on K-96 freely,” And, “at this time, there are no evacuations in Reno County.”

As the town hopes for an extended, calm, clear break, Nickerson City Clerk Robin Schmitt says rumors seem to be rising with the floodwaters.

Among those rumors is that a sandbag dyke north of town broke, meaning the city could see up to 10 more inches of flooding.
