Road and Bridge Supervisor Justin Novak told the commissioners that the airport board needs to find a clerk. That comment unleashed a discussion that lasted the next 15 minutes.

“We don’t really have an airport board,” Commissioner Tim Mueller said. “Nobody [on the board] is doing a damn thing.” “When was the last time we got minutes?” Mueller asked county clerk Diana Svanda.

“I’ve never gotten minutes,” she replied.

Commissioner Tim Mueller said the airport board never submitted a budget this year, either. “I feel like the ball has been dropped a little bit,” Commissioner Gary Ouellette said of the airport board. Mueller said the Public Works manager is officially the clerk for the airport board and does the billing for the airport. A now-retired public works manager had been doing those duties before retirement, but those duties have possibly not been being done since that retirement more than a year ago.

Novak said the current manager has no idea that she is supposed to be doing those duties. Mueller said he would go to Public Works Monday afternoon and show the manager what airport duties she is in charge of.

Novak said he would like to see the airport board get their own clerk.
