For ten years, the Wichita Police Department has partnered with community donors and volunteers to provide a holiday feast for families in need. Sergeant Kenneth Kimble started the tradition to spend more time with families in Wichita.

“We feel just by who we’ve met and what we see, we felt that this is something they would benefit from and it could give them a positive impression and hopefully help them have a good new year,” Kimble said.

He says a party bus picks up families and brings them to Pig In! Pig Out BBQ and Catering to enjoy a meal. Gifts are also given out to the families.

“We try to get them some gifts they wouldn’t have, we try to get them things they’re not accustomed to.”

Kimble says officers from across the city invite a family and they all come together for the holiday feast.
