The City of Belleville’s 150th anniversary celebration is just over nine months away. And PRIDE committee chairperson Deanna Morris says what seems like a long way away really isn’t. “We just had a meeting last week and realized there is so much to do and honestly so little time to do it in,” she told the Telescope. Morris and fellow PRIDE members Sheila White and Waylon Scheetz appeared before members of the Belleville city council on Monday to give an update on the project as it stands. Morris said the biggest thing the group needs right now is…help. “This is an event that celebrates Belleville and its history,” she said. “We would like to stress that more community involvement is going to be needed to pull this off, including help from other organizations.” So far Morris told council members the task of putting together a 150th has been daunting but in the end “it will be a great three days.”
