CORRECTION: Any early title incorrectly mentioned “Wellington”. That should have stated “Winfield”. We apologize for the error!
With Jeremy Willmoth no longer manager for the City of Winfield, the city commission will soon begin looking for a replacement.
Winfield Mayor Greg Thompson said the commission’s first order of business is to find an interim city manager. Interviews will begin in the next couple of weeks. The interim manager could end up being someone who is already employed by the city, said Thompson.
“(The commission hasn’t) talked about it a great deal,” Thompson said about finding an interim. “But obviously this is where our focus needs to be at this point.”
The commission could call on consultants to help with hiring a permanent manager, which they did in 2016 when replacing former manager Warren Porter. The governing body might also consider other sources of help, said Thompson.
