Cowley County Emergency Management will facilitate a full-scale exercise on Sept. 6 at the Tisdale United Methodist Church, 17507 U.S. 160 Highway, east of Winfield.

At least 22 separate organizations are expected to participate in this exercise, which is slated to begin at 9 a.m. and complete no later than 1 p.m.

Emergency operations planning is a key role of the Emergency Management agency. To successfully test a plan’s effectiveness, specific aspects of the plan need to be tested and evaluated for any necessary improvements.

The Tisdale United Methodist Church is one the newest community partners and has accepted the role as a post-event community evacuation shelter. As a final step, numerous agencies from the area will join together in a full-scale exercise at this venue.
