The 46th annual Hays Oktoberfest will be Sept. 28 at Municipal Park in downtown Hays.
The event will begin at 7 a.m. with the German Market. The opening ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and conclude with the tapping of the keg at 11:30.
Hays Oktoberfest promotes the heritage of the Volga German and Bukovina Germans who settled in Ellis County. Fort Hays State University Homecoming is the same weekend.
Entertainment will feature polka music of the Joe Dolezal Band and the Ron Werth Band. Hays Community Theater will provide historical re-enactors and skits throughout the day.
This is the seventh year the Volga German Society of Ellis and Rush County, the Sunflower Chapter of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, and the Ellis County Historical Society have partnered with the Oktoberfest committee.
