Chanute commissioners went ahead with a condemnation resolution Monday evening, but said they hoped someone would assist the occupant.
The issue continued discussion from the commission’s last meeting about properties at 918 and 922 S. Malcolm, owned by Brenda Neal, and whether they were in violation of city code. The commission voted to find the properties in violation, but also said they wanted to help Neal.
“I want you to go somewhere where you’re safe,” Commissioner Phil Chaney said.
He said he hoped people would reach out to Neal, and Community Services Director Ryan Follmer helped get a phone number so she could contact assistance.
