Community leaders and local business owners will showcase their on-stage talents next weekend to help raise funds for education.

The women’s division of the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Lip Sync Battle Aug. 11 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 55, 300 S. 20th St.

“It’s going to be a great event,” said Mary Mack, organizer of the event.

Lansing Mayor Mike Smith, Leavenworth City Commissioner Nancy Bauder and Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson are among the 17 contestants who will be performing a wide variety of songs. Money raised at the event goes to the women’s division’s scholarship fund. Each year, the division awards scholarships to high school seniors and non-traditional students, women and people furthering their education.
