Crews have started to lay the groundwork for a multi-million dollar project that has been more than ten years in the making.

“If something about retail patterns or living habits change, we have something that can really ebb and flow with changing times,” said Emily Randel with the city of Mission.

The Mission Gateway project will be built in three phases, and will include retail, hotels, apartments, office spaces, and a parking garage.

Celebrity Chef Tom Colicchio is also creating a buzz with a food hall concept he’s developing within the space.

“I think that will draw a lot of people spending their leisure time there,” said Randel.

Plans and activity around the new design are re-energizing the area and its residents.
