Gov. Jeff Colyer embraced formation of a new economic development marketing strategy Thursday shaped to convince investors that Kansas possesses opportunities for business expansion and to persuade outsiders it was appropriate to shed images of Kansas as a flyover state.
Under the umbrella of an initiative tagged “Land in Kansas,” the Colyer administration will begin by emphasizing a marketing pitch to draw potential investors to the state’s strengths in agriculture, aviation and a handful of other industries.
“We want people to come to our state,” said Colyer, who is seeking the Republican Party’s nomination for governor in the Aug. 7 primary election. “If we continue to work together, we will ensure that Kansas is no longer viewed as a flyover state. We want people to land in Kansas.”
