City of Topeka defers action on City Hall renovations, capital improvement budget
Topeka’s governing body postponed action Tuesday evening for one week on proposals to increase the amount budgeted to renovate City Hall and to approve capital improvement plans proposed by city manager Brent Trout. Toward the end of a meeting that lasted four hours and 15 minutes, members voted 7-3 to defer action until their April 9 meeting on whether to earmark nearly $3.86 million in additional funding to carry out the first phase of a project to renovate the building at 215 S.E. 7th and 214 S.E. 8th, which houses City Hall, Topeka Municipal Court and the Topeka Performing Arts Center.
