Greyhound opens new route connecting Kansas City and Salina

Greyhound, the largest provider of intercity bus transportation in North America, is opening a new route connecting Kansas City, Mo., and Salina, the company announced Tuesday. Aldi proposes making $60,000 donation for art in Roeland Park instead of incorporating piece into new store project

The Roeland Park city council on Monday gave tentative approval to allowing Aldi to provide a $60,000 arts donation in lieu of incorporating an art piece into the teardown/rebuild efforts for the store located at 4801 Roe Blvd. The item will be placed on the next council meeting’s agenda for a final vote. Grant would connect hike, bike trails in Winfield

A grant the RISE Cowley coalition wants to apply for could provide funds to expand and connect the City of Winfield’s biking and hiking trails. Improving trails was identified as a way to increase physical activity through last year’s Community Health Needs Assessment. RISE Cowley and the city would partner up on the grant application, which could result in up to $50,000 for the trail work in Winfield. Douglas Design District names executive director

The Douglas Design District has a new face. Renee Duxler has agreed to become the executive director of the nonprofit civic organization, which includes more than 100 member businesses in the district on downtown Wichita's east side. Duxler, a Wichita businesswoman who ran for a spot on the Sedgwick County Commission last year, had been a board member with the organization before closing her small business in November. She will now oversee day-to-day operations for the organization, which was started in 2007.
