A Union Pacific freight train derailed in McPherson Sunday morning, causing a small grass fire and leaking denatured alcohol. The derailment was reported around 9:30 a.m. near the 1200 block of South Main. There were no injuries. Denatured alcohol leaked from one car into a nearby stream that feeds into Wolf Creek. The leak was contained and there was no threat to the community. McPherson fire crews got the grass fire out quickly.
