A professionally trained flute player and a dedicated employee, Jennifer Martin joined the City of Lenexa in 2000 as a customer service representative in the community development department, knowing very little about government or construction. “But, I did know how to relate to people and explain things simply,” she said. “I have always been one who loves to learn, so learning about government and construction processes gave me the opportunity to help Lenexa residents understand why permits are required and how to successfully maneuver the process.” Today, Jennifer works as the city clerk and is the official record keeper for the organization.
