The recent induction of two USD 409 educators into the Kansas Teacher Hall of Fame has set a precedent for a statewide honor.
Class of 2019 Inductees Dr. Susan Myers, outgoing superintendent of Atchison Public Schools and Tricia Regan, longtime Atchison Elementary School kindergarten teacher, represent the first time two educators were recognized from the same school district in the Hall of Fame since its establishment in 1977. The distinction was publicly announced in April.
Museum Coordinator Mary Lou Doris, a Hall of Fame volunteer, confirmed Myers and Regan’s induction marks the first time two educators from the same town have been inducted the same year. Doris has consistently served the institution for 30 years.
