City officials respond to article naming Fort Scott the state’s poorest city

During the Fort Scott City Commission meeting Tuesday, Director of Economic Development Rachel Pruitt reported city officials recently learned – Fort Scott made the news and not in a good way.Fort Scott was identified as the “poorest city in the state” in a May 7 article published in USA Today. Pruitt said officials tried to “fact find” where the newspaper obtained statistics used for the article.
