While they took no vote, Leavenworth County commissioners seemed to reach a decision Wednesday to remove the salaries of elected officials from a county pay plan.
Commissioners discussed the issue during a work session, which took place Wednesday afternoon. The work session came after commissioners had met earlier in the day for a regular weekly meeting.
Salaries of the county elected officials are set each year by the commission. But currently, the salaries of the elected officials follow the same pay plan used for employees of the county government. The elected officials include the commissioners as well as others such as the county clerk and sheriff.
The issue of whether the salaries of elected officials should be removed from the pay plan came up last month. But no action was taken at the time.
The issue was brought back Wednesday after two new members joined the commission.
