Park City debuted its new flag to city residents at a ceremony on Feb. 16.

According to the Ark Valley News, the city council voted 7-1 to match $11,775 in Convention and Tourism funds for a new city flag. A selection committee was also formed at the time. Gardner Design of Wichita researched the city and met with community members before developing the flag. The center of the flag is formed by an intersection of horizontal and vertical lines, representing I-135 and K-96, the two major roadways providing access to Park City.

A dark blue and green leaf overlaps the center of the flag, representing the city’s parks and the potential for growth. At the center of the leaf is a star, which is meant to symbolize hope and imagination.

A line splitting the flag into eastern and western halves represents how the city is split into two school districts by I-135. A general wave effect throughout the design is meant to display unity.
