Taggart Wall, city manager of Sterling and a former Winfield city commissioner, said he looks forward to coming back home after being hired as the new Winfield city manager.

The decision to hire Wall, a Winfield native, by the city commission on Monday was unanimous, according to a press release issued by the city immediately after the announcement.

Wall’s expected start date is May 13. He replaces former city manager Jeremy Willmoth, who left the city in October 2018.
Wall earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy/religious studies in 2011 from Southwestern College and a Master of Public Administration from Wichita State University in 2013. He also has degree certifications from Wichita State University in city/county management and public finance. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children. Wall served on the Winfield City Commission from 2009 to 2013. He was 20 years old when elected, making him the city’s youngest commissioner in history.

In 2011, at age 22, he was sworn in for a one-year term as Winfield mayor, becoming the city’s youngest mayor. He was a management assistant in Arkansas City from 2012 to 2014, a position he resigned from to become Sterling city manager.
