Hiawatha Community Hospital is scheduled to meet with city and county officials to discuss its state of financial urgency.

This is according to Jeff Shelton, CEO, who announced last week that the hospital needed to cut — or find additional revenue — to the tune of approximately $3 million in order to deter the financial crisis. Shelton announced last week cuts in employee fringe benefits that totaled around $1 million — and included a 2 percent pay cut for all employees, in addition to other compensation decreases by the providers — but said the hospital would need to find a way to make up another almost $2 million in 2019. /blockquote>
