Grant would connect hike, bike trails in Winfield

A grant the RISE Cowley coalition wants to apply for could provide funds to expand and connect the City of Winfield’s biking and hiking trails.

Improving trails was identified as a way to increase physical activity through last year’s Community Health Needs Assessment.

RISE Cowley and the city would partner up on the grant application, which could result in up to $50,000 for the trail work in Winfield.

The city and RISE Cowley would work together on a trails master plan as part of the grant application. The master plan will also help with applications for other grants, said Sarah Werner, CEO of the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
