The city of Greensburg has a new city administrator coming in and a longtime mayor exiting.
They’re related.
At a special Greensburg City Council meeting Oct. 25, Mayor Bob Dixson presented a letter of resignation, effective immediately. It was his understanding his daughter, Stacy Barnes, the Convention and Tourism director and director of The Big Well Museum & Visitors Center, had submitted an application for city administrator. “I felt it was the ethical thing to do, so there was no sign of collusion or impropriety or nepotism,” Dixson told The News recently.
The city received approximately two dozen applications for the advertised opening at City Hall, said new Mayor Matt Christenson. They interviewed three finalists and on Nov. 19, the council approved a three-year contract with Barnes. She starts the job on Dec. 10.
