McConnell commander to talk tanker at Wichita Aero Club

The featured speaker at the November meeting of the Wichita Aero Club could have a big day ahead of him soon after the event.

Col. Joshua Olson, commander of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing at McConnell Air Force Base, will be the guest of honor at the Nov. 14 meeting of the Aero Club.

And there is at least a possibility that two days later Olson will be taking part in a delivery ceremony at the base for the first Boeing Co. KC-46 tanker.

Federal documents have previously revealed that McConnell is preparing for a delivery on that date, though the base has emphasized that it is currently only for planning purposes and that the delivery date is subject to change. But the tanker is coming — and its impact on McConnell and the surrounding region will be among those topics addressed by Olson at the club event.
