When one member of your family is hurt you help. Those are words Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson lives by, especially following Sunday’s shooting that left a Sedgwick County deputy dead.
“I contacted Sheriff Easter and said what do you need? We’re ready,” said Sheriff Henderson.
Reno County deputies were dispatched to the shooting scene as back up Sunday. For all it’s a tragedy that hits close to home.
“A lot of our guys work with the Sedgwick County officers because we are right next door,” Henderson said. “They know these guys.”
Although Deputy Robert Kunze III will be laid to rest Friday, Sheriff Henderson knows the mourning won’t end there. That’s why his deputies are ready to fill in for those who need to take time.
“If they need help in the jail, if they need help covering the road, we’re going to be there for them. And they know that.”
