A Haven man was arrested on suspicion of battery of a law enforcement officer, as well as drug possession and gun charges, on Saturday. Bentley Police Chief James Bryan works part time for Mount Hope, and made the arrest on K-96 Highway near milepost 262, between Haven and Mount Hope. “Reno County K-9 Edy with the Bentley P.D., was utilized in a sniff of the vehicle, resulting in an indicative alert to a drug odor within the 2010 Dodge Charger,” a release from Bryan stated. “As officers attempted to have the driver exit the vehicle, he became combative and tried to
flee in his vehicle, resulting in an officer being dragged a distance across K-96 before the suspect car was able to be stopped in the median, with the officer sustaining minor injury.”
