Reno County Administrator Gary Meagher announced in an email late Tuesday that he plans to retire at the end of the year.
Meagher, 67, has been administrator since June 2009, becoming only the second person to fill the post after the county commission agreed to hire a professional manager in 1999.
He also became the second local municipal manager to announce his retirement this month. Hutchinson city manager John Deardoff revealed his retirement plans on July 9.
