Several gathered Monday to watch water being released on Perry Lake in northeast Kansas. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers started the water release Sunday night. The lake is 23 feet above normal due to recent rain. Perry Lake is recreational, but its first purpose is flood control. The water release will last several days.
