Miami County commissioners seemed in agreement during their April 24 study session that Election Systems & Software of Omaha, Neb., was the preferred vendor to supply the county’s new election equipment.
But commissioners didn’t prefer the company’s price quote.
Depending on which option is selected, the county would spend in the ballpark of $550,000 to $680,000 for equipment and software, based on the current ES&S quote. Financial Director Steve Lyman said the county has budgeted $400,000 for new election equipment. The initial cost does not include annual maintenance and license fees of about $55,000.
ES&S serves 27 counties in Kansas with the equipment that was demonstrated Feb. 13. Those counties included Johnson, Sedgwick, Wyandotte, Shawnee and Leavenworth, according to company representatives who demonstrated their election equipment for commissioners, along with Henry Adkins & Son, Inc./Unisyn and Election Source.
