In early April, the Topeka Police Department announced a large-scale mural collaboration with ARTSConnect, Topeka’s nonprofit advocate for the arts.
Thursday, TPD and ARTSConnect announced the mural project’s name: “TPD Mural Project: The Common Ground.”
“Common ground is at the heart of this mural, making it a natural fit for the name and message of this project,” said Topeka Police Chief Bill Cochran. “I think the community will see common ground in the design aspect and we also hope this is what they feel after seeing it.” TPD and ARTSConnect will unveil the mural’s design at noon Thursday in Classroom A at the Law Enforcement Center, 320 S. Kansas Ave. The public is invited to attend.
Painting is expected to begin before summer.
