Once a year in March, the cemetery association meets to discuss what it can do to improve the Halstead Cemetery.
Although the board consists of four officers and three trustees, it’s mostly an informal group that focuses on the beautification of the cemetery.
City Administrator Ethan Reimer attended the most recent meeting to see what the city might be able to do as far as cost sharing.
The challenge is that the city keeps up the general maintenance of the cemetery, while the association works on the appearance, which Reimer admits are overlapping interests.
“We talked about getting more formalized, what falls under their purview and what ours is,” Reimer said.
