From the dugouts to the footings for the grand stands, the new baseball stadium is starting to take shape. The city released new renderings that show more detail of what the stadium will look like, as well as the developments that will surround it.
“This is the people’s ballpark,” said Lou Schwechheimer, owner of Wichita Baseball 2020.
The latest renderings feature art, the way people will be given directions around the park and even what the stadium will look like at night.
These renderings are the most detailed so far.
“This is literally being designed as we build it,” Schwechheimer said. “That gives the public a little more chance.”
Input from the public is something city officials and the team owners said they’re paying close attention to, especially the concern about the success of the surrounding development around the stadium.
“I think there’s a little more work to be done,” said James Clendenin, city council member. “I think they realize that. The great thing about these renderings is they’re starting to reflect the feedback we’ve been getting.”
