Chanute city commissioners discussed ballfield and recreation center agreements during their comments after Monday evening’s meeting.
City staff and the Chanute Recreation Commission are negotiating use agreements for the recreation center and for the ballfields in Santa Fe Park in preparation to renovate the ballfields.
Commissioner Phil Chaney said he has not seen much action yet, and he wants to have a commitment from the CRC that the facilities will be put to use. City Manager Jeff Cantrell said there seems to be a tug-of-war over which facility would be addressed first.
