The Andover Police Department Thursday introduced the newest member of its department, a German shepherd named Roko.
During Thursday’s ceremony, Andover police officially welcomed its newest K9 and Roko’s handler, Deshaun Smith. The department says the pair will help with missions like drug deterrence and search and rescue efforts.
Roko isn’t just a member of the Andover Police Department; he’s a constant companion for his handler.
“When you’re at work your’e with him, when you’re at home, you’re with him,” Smith says. “You take care of him. You take him to vet visits, you bathe him, you brush him. I’m with him more than my own family.”
