Using Flintstones characters, Kiowa County Emergency Medical Services utilized a flash mob at a high school basketball game halftime to teach the importance of hands-only CPR to all who were present. With February being National Heart month it seemed a perfect opportunity for Kiowa County Emergency Medical Services to promote heart disease awareness, and they did it in a very memorable way. Fans at the Kiowa County vs Minneola basketball game on February 12 got to see more than just a game. During the halftime show, Kiowa County EMS held a prehistoric-focused flash mob to remind fans about chest compression, hands only CPR.
“The most important thing is to remember if someone collapses in front of you do chest compressions,” said local EMT Sdirector Rosa Spainhour. ” I got the idea back in December when I saw a tee-shirt that said ‘T-Rexs Hate CPR,” because of there short arms. Then I remembered that Scott and Jill Eller had the inflatable dinosaurs and it all just came together from there.”
