Romeo Brewer and his neighbors hate seeing these new power poles in their north Wichita neighborhood; what they hate even more they say is that the electric company Westar isn’t holding good to its promise.

“What about the people? They don’t care about the people,” said Brewer.

In September Westar installed the poles, hoping to provide more durable and efficient power to the area.

Westar understands neighbors consider the new additions eyesores, so the company offered to pay homeowners to put the poles on their property.

“We don’t know what’s going on because there’s been no information provided,” said Robert Jones.

Jones says he hasn’t received a dime from Westar and neither have many of his neighbors.

State representative Gail Finney, said, “I think my blood pressure goes up every time I look at it because it is just terrible looking for a community, and I don’t really think they would’ve done that to a more affluent area in my opinion.”
