After a pair of public comment sessions that became emotional at times, the Shawnee County Commission on Monday morning voted unanimously to defer action on two conditional use permit resolutions, each of which would allow for wedding and event centers on private properties in the eastern and southwestern parts of the county.
The meeting, which drew a standing-room only crowd in the council chambers in the Shawnee County Courthouse basement, lasted about two hours and 15 minutes.
