When they met Tuesday, Leavenworth County commissioners were presented two maps to consider for redrawing commission district boundaries.
Commissioners are redrawing district boundaries in order to create five commission districts. Earlier this month, voters approved the expansion of the County Commission from three members to five.
The current commissioners did not settle on a particular map Tuesday. But they agreed that they will choose one of the two maps presented to them during the meeting rather than ask for another alternative. There also seemed to be a consensus to have both maps under consideration placed on the county government’s website so members of the public can review them. If commissioners approve the resolution Dec. 11, County Clerk Janet Klasinski plans to have a special election in March so voters can elect two additional members to the County Commission.
