Downtown Yoder is experiencing a retail resurgence.
In the past several months three new stores and a commercial office have opened in the Heritage Square strip center just off Main Street that had been largely empty for the past several years.
The growth is especially remarkable when you consider there are less than a dozen businesses in the small community six miles south of Hutchinson, in the middle of Amish country.
The business owners, remarkably, are all named Yoder, though only a pair are related.
The three retailers will celebrate a Christmas Open House on Friday and Saturday with Christmas décor, discounts, drawings, and other activities.
