Design proposals for the planned new Wichita multi-purpose ballpark were due at City Hall by Wednesday afternoon.
After announcing it plans to build a new ballpark to replace Lawrence-Dumont Stadium earlier this year, the city put out a request for proposals for the design of the facility, which will sit on or near the footprint of L-D.
It’s all part of a package put together by the city to lure the minor league New Orleans Baby Cakes baseball franchise. The team plans to play its first season in Wichita’s new ballpark in 2020.
As of midday on Friday, Hannah Lang, a senior buyer in the city’s finance department, said no bids had been submitted. According to city records, nearly 50 individuals representing various firms attended a pre-proposal meeting on October 12.
