The Hiawatha City Commission met on Monday evening, and with all commissioners present, approved a Notice to Proceed for the Citywide Sales Tax Street Improvements.
City Administrator Mike Nichols said the notice gave the first milestone, which will be on the 400 and 500 blocks of Utah Street, as well as a portion of 5th Street, a start date next week, but that work will not begin until after the Halloween parade. The project has an overall estimated completion date of summer 2020, which is ahead of the final deadline.
