A gazebo built specially for the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas is getting its final touches in preparation for building day on Thursday.

The structure is being built as a community project by Fort Scott Community College’s Building Trades students at the Southeast Kansas Career and Technical Education Center of Crawford County.

In a few short months, the students measured, cut and designed a gazebo which will sit near the pirate ship playground equipment which CTEC students also built. The materials for the gazebo project were purchased by CHC/SEK, which construction trades students assembled inside CTEC’s construction labs. Arma High School CTEC student Colin Monaghan said he remembers his parents promising to go to the park after a “stressful” doctor’s visit. Monaghan said he’s glad he could help make it easier for parents when they are faced with those types of visits.

“I absolutely love this,” he said. “It’s good for everyone and making an impact on many people.”
