The Saline County Commission approved a disaster declaration Tuesday morning in anticipation of potential flooding in North Salina, New Cambria and Mentor. The declaration covers all of Saline County and is effective for seven days.
“The Board of County Commissioners of Saline County, Kansas, finds that certain conditions have caused or imminently threaten to cause widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property in disaster proportion and proclaim that a state of local disaster emergency exists in Saline County, Kansas,” the declaration states. “Flooding conditions have created obstructions or will create obstructions, which endanger health, safety, and welfare of persons and property within the border of Saline County, Kansas.”
