Shawnee County asking public to help choose name for recreation van

Shawnee County’s parks and recreation department is asking the public to vote on a name for its mobile recreation unit.

The names being considered are “Rec on the Run,” “Rec + Roll” and “Wheels of Fun,” according to the parks and recreation department’s Facebook page.

Susan Fowler-Hentzler, recreation superintendent for the department, told county commissioners Kevin Cook, Shelly Buhler and Bob Archer about the contest at their meeting Monday.

“Mobile recreation programs make it even easier to bring fun and play to where people are — and not just kids!” the department said on its Facebook page. “We deliver healthy activities and nature education all over town. The Mobile Recreation Van is outfitted with balls, hula hoops, games, art and fitness supplies.”
