A pet patrol is happening right now in Prairie Village – city workers are going door-to-door to make sure animals are registered and up to date on their shots.
The city says it picks a different part of Prairie Village each year to check for pets.
The audit is to ensure that all pets are up to date with their rabies shots, and to make sure a home doesn’t have too many animals. Each home is allowed up to four pets, and no more than three of either cats or dogs.
“I think it’s actually a good idea because it’s keeping people honest,” said resident Rick Pierce. “It’s keeping people within the boundaries of the law. I mean, I understand some people have a heart, but the city also has rules and ordinances that everybody needs to follow.”
